Eminence Stone Crop Masque

Eminence Stone Crop Masque (Handmade in Hungary)

I was introduced to this product from the Spa that I went for massage therapy.  You can also this product online from eskincare store.

Texture- Gel, rather thick and viscous. like aloe vera gel but thinner.

Colour- Light green, the gel contains tiny dark green plant leaves

Scent:  refreshing

Description: Lightening, Calming  & Hydrating

Skin Type: Oily to mature, lack of tone, irritated and pigmented skin types  (all skin types)

Benefits:
• Helps to reduce pigmentation and lightens the complexion
• Regenerates and firms stressed skin
• Vitalizes and tones the epidermis
• Moisturizes the skin and helps to reduce visible signs of aging
• Calms sensitive skin

Active Ingredients:
• Stone Crop: regenerative lightening and moisturizing agent
• Lemon: contains high amounts of Vitamin C, antioxidant
• Bioflavonoids: fights against free radicals, protective agent
• Honey: nourishing, moisturizing agent
• Biocomplex™: an antioxidant booster of Vitamins A, Ester-C, E, Coenzyme Q10, Alpha Lipoic Acid

Application: Apply a thin layer of masque with fingertips to cleansed skin, avoiding the eye area. (Dilute with water for easier application.) May use Galvanic or ultra-sound (in spa).  Leave on for 5 minutes or longer until dry (recommended to place wet gauze or cotton strips over top). It is possible to use as a massage agent by diluting the product and periodically dipping your hand into tea, juice or water. Remove with a damp face cloth.

My Thoughts:
I use this product at home without any equipment.  I grab a bit on my palm and then add some spring water to mix.  I usually leave it on around 15 minutes and then go shower and gentle scrub off in a circular motion  Since the gel with leaves might not be easy to rinse off, I usually use a sponge to clean the mask off or wash it off during shower. This is by far my favourite wash-type mask which delivers smoother and brighten skin with replenishing moisture. I started to try more and more organic products without chemicals. I love how fresh and nature they make the skin feel and look.

Diorsnow White Skincare Set Review & Shiseido warehouse haul

Diorsnow White Skincare Set Review
Here is the review/comment of Diorsnow White Skincare Set $49.99 U.S. after one week of use.
I bought it from Facial Shop.
1. White Radiance Foam Cleanser, 50ml - pretty drying after use. Not notice any difference of whitening effect on skin.
Note: I realized that whitening product requires a long time of use to see the difference. Most of the whitening products are drying my skin. This is the second whitening/brightening cleansers I had tried. Previously, I had finished two tubes of Shiseido White Lucent Foaming cleanser and I was looking for alternatives. Then, My skin had become dull, and breaking out without using Shiseido White Lucent cleanser. I just realized that the Shiseido White Lucent Foaming cleanser works!!! I would prefer Shiseido White Lucent cleanser instead of Dior's for few reasons: 1) I already know that Shiseido's works; 2) Dior's cleanser is much drying compared to Shiseido's cleanser. My skin probably out of balance by the time I finished the tube. 3) The price of Shiseido's is much cheaper compared with Dior's.
2. White Reveal Essence,10ml - not much difference after a week. I prefer Paul and Joe's whitening serum which provides enough hydration and whitening effects.
3. White Reveal Lotion Rich 2, 50ml - it's in "rich" formula.  The texture is more viscous compared to a toner for hydrating skin.
4. White Reveal UV Shield SPF50 PA+++,30ml - This is by far the best product in this set and one of my favourite sunscreen. (the other one is Clarins). It gives the highest SPF protection among all the sunscreens that I tried. The texture feels thick, but blends very nicely on skin and gives a radiant look.It doesn't cause my skin break out, and doesn't leave any greasy feeling. It is compatible with other skincare products/makeup as well.
A Dior cosmetic bag - I love this bag! Very pretty.

Lancome Primordiale Yeux Skin Recharge eye cream

source: Lancome website

Claims for:
An ultra-smoothing cream-gel for a targeting action on eye contour 1st wrinkles, puffiness, dark circles. Better protected against premature aging, the eye contour looks younger. Visibly smoother, it reveals its luminosity.

This product comes in a jar 15mL. $72 CAN retail price. I got mine on sale in Lancome counter. You can find this product discounted in sasa.com and strawberrynet.com.

The texture is cream-gel like. It is quickly blended and absorbed to the skin. This eye cream is very hydrating and moisturizing without leaving any greasy feeling. It plumps up the under eye area and helps relieve the fine lines. As for the dark circle, I only have 5% product left in the container and I don't see any difference yet. I love this product because I have been trying alot of eye creams/gels. Either the product is not hydrating enough that the concealer looks cakey under the eye. Or the eye cream is too rich that there are some little bumps developed. Not e that I live in Toronto with dry/cold climate, this product is suitable for me. This product might not suitable for people who have oily skin. If you have combination skin and are looking for an eye cream that will give a better hydration than eye gel, give this product a try.

Sorry that I couldn't provide the ingredients for this product as I discarded the container box.
You can check lipglosseater for her review/ingredient listed posted.

Sisley Botanical Eye & Lip Contour Balm 30ml/1oz Review

Source: Strawberrynet

I had finally finished using the second jar of this product and ready to write an review on it.
I bought mine at strawberrynet for $75 U.S. a year ago. Retail price now is: $140 U.S.

The product claims for:

  • Moisturizes and protects the lip and eye areas
  • Helps preventing fine lines and dryness
  • Diminishes under-eye puffiness. Apply in the morning.

Evaluation:

Packaging: in a glass jar.

Texture: Clear gel, sticky feel

Smell: Light floral

Results:
This gel is very refreshing and easily absorbed. I feel that the under eye area is tightened (firmer) after use. However, my under eye dark circles and fine lines are still there after trying 2 jars of these products. This product is not moisturizing enough for my under eye area. I ended up applying another eye cream on top of this Sisley eye balm. I could not confirm if it really works for the under-eye puffiness as I do not have under eye bags.
I would recommend this product to the people who are early 20's looking for the very first eye cream for moisturizing and preventing fine lines.
There are better alternatives for people who have fine lines and need more hydration the under eye area.

Repurchase: Not anymore. I guess that my eye area needs more moisture as I age.

Skin Care Routine

Here is my skincare routine pretty much everyday. I do have my skin for exfoliation once every week followed by clarifying mask. I know that the routine seems to be insane for some of the readers but that how I keep my skin clean, moisturized and protected.

A.M.

Shiseido brightening cleanser ->it lasts quite a while because you only needs a penny size
Lancome toner -> the combination one in which I found a bit drying for me in winter
Beautymaker hydrating eye serum -> moisturizing
DDF eye gel --> optional ( I add this when the skin needs moisture boost)
DDF SPF 15 eye cream --> very light but moisturizing eye cream with sunscreen
Clarins Bi-phase serum --> very good for giving a moisture boost
Clarins Multi-day cream --> very lightweight but moisturizing day cream with the benefits of anti-aging ingredients
Dior UV white sunscreen --> looks thick but very absorbing sunscreen. I do feel that my skin looked paler when I first started using this product .now I do not see any whitening effects after few months.

P.M.

Vichy 3 in 1 cleanser (for face) x2 --> very gentle cream cleanser for removing makeup (good for sensitive skin as well)
Bioderm sensitive (for eyes if heavy makeup had been applied) --> water texture. This product can get rid of any heavy eye makeup very effectively. Only a little bit placed on the cotton swab and apply it around the eye lid, all the makeup removed. The good thing about this product is that it doesn't sting my eyes.
Laneige Multi cleanser --> with some granules that can remove any dead skin cells at the same time.

Masks (depends on the condition of the skin the day of) : Favourite: Silk Whita, My Daily Beauty

Lancome toner
Origins Age-correcting serum with Rhodiola (only laugh lines, neck and under the eye area) --> it smooths out the undereye area. only needs one drop which can cover the under eye area and laugh lines. This bottle lasts forever.
Origins Perfect World moisturizer antioxidant with white tea --> The texture feels very rich, but only very little product can easily spread over the face and skin absorbs the product very quickly. So the product will go for a long period of time. Worth every penny!!!! The skin becomes very smooth immediately. The laugh lines seem to be smoother.
Origins Youthtopia Firming eye cream with Rhodiola --> similar texture of the moisturizer. My under eye area becomes very smooth and I notice that the fine lines are less defined.

I do have whitening routine as well. Pretty much using them alternative week.
Paul & Joe Whitening serum and Lancome whitening emulsion.

What is your skincare routine that you found effective? I would like to hear from you.

From the above product lists, I love Clarins and Origins!!! I love Clarins products which are very lightweight and I notice that my skin becomes more radiant after using the products. Excellent for use in summer. Recently, I got hooked on the Origins products which are amazing in terms of moisturizing and anti-agent results in a dry cold climate. The most important thing about Origins products are organic with 100% natural essential oils. My face didn't break out. I am not sure if the Origins products are suitable for me in summer, but definitely is a keep in winter. I would definitely recommend for people who already have some fine lines (normal to dry skin type).

Clarins Hydra-quench cream mask Review

Source: Clarins
What does it claim for?

Quickly restores moisture balance even in the most dehydrated skin by boosting natural hydration mechanisms. Smoothes fine lines leaving skin soft, fresh and comfortable. Also ensures a radiant complexion.

Active Ingredients:
Hyaluronic acid : helps skin maintain its moisture reserves.
Katafray bark : restructures the corneal layer, prevents dehydration.
Sobier tree bud : boosts microcirculation.
Vitamin E :
protects skin from free radicals. E3P Anti-Pollution Complex protect

Packaging: I got a sample size in a pouch in which the amount of mask allows me to have two trials.

Texture: white Creamy

Scent: Floral

Directions to use: Leave it on for 5-10 minutes. It can also be applied to the eye contour area. Tissue off with toner/rinse off.

Result: I have seen a lot of good reviews for this product on the website. I have high hope on this product especially I love the Clarins HydraQuench Line. I have the Intensive Bi-phase serum and HydraQuench cream-gel which are my saviours for dehydrated and thirsty skin in
times. However, I am pretty disappointing about the trials because I don't see any hydration/cooling effects. I was wondering if I had not applying the mask correctly or the sample pouch was not stored properly at the store. I receive another sample size and I will give another try and see if there is any change of my perspective on this product.

1st trial: leave it on for 5-10 minutes and rinse off. The white cream mask remains the same after 10 minutes. It doesn't have any cooling effect or I feel like moisture on my face. I rinse it off.

2nd trial: Leave it on for an hour and rinse off. No hydrating effect.

For people who had already bought this mask. Here is a tip that I search for the review for this product (Source: Beetrice's Reviews) : If you want better absorption of the cream mask, it was suggested that you place a mask on top of the cream mask after 10 minutes and gently massage your face.

Comment:

I have tried hydrating mask in tube/container for several other brands: Aveeno, Biotherm, Lancome, Jurlique, Valmont. Except the Valmont one, I found that the hydrating mask in paper form is more effective.

New skincare purchase

I already told myself not to buy any skincare products in the short term since I still have some stocks. However, I passed by Clarins counters today and I pre-order the Clarins Multi Day cream which will substitute the Clarins Hydration cream-gel that I use everyday in the coming winter. Also, I got the SPF40 sunscreen. The texture of the sunscreen is thin, and lotion-like. Very smooth and light. This is a pre-order promotion, so I will get a gift (which is a $70 value hydration package) and a free facial. I will do a full review on the Clarins products later on.
I also receive some samples to try: Super Restorative wake-up lotion, hydra-quench cream mask, Multi-Active Skin renewal serum and Multi-Active day cream. Can't wait to try them. Let me know if you are interested for any reviews of those above products.

Also, sales on My Daily Beauty Masks at T&T supermarket for $12.99 + tax. I got the Strawberry yogurt (I haven't tried this yet), Aloe (very moisturizing, good for winter) and Q10 (haven't tried this as well).

Shanghainese Dumpling giveaway

I have seen a lot of reviews raving about VitaCream B12.  Shanghainese Dumpling giveaway is having this item to give away.

Clarins Hydra-Quench Cooling cream-gel

Texture: cream-gel

Scent: very refreshing

Packaging: A big container that last for quite a while...

Active Ingredients:

Hyaluronic acid: helps the skin to maintain its moisture level.
Katafray bark: restructures the corneal layer, limits dehydration.
Sorbier tree bud: stimulates microcirculation.
Vitamin E: protects against free radicals. E3P Anti-Pollution Complex

Comments: My skin was quite dehydrated during season change when I purchased this product. I used to apply a thick layer of this product and then apply a other thin layer of night cream on top at night. I also use this product at day before applying the makeup and found that the foundation wouldn't turn cakey as used to. It helped my skin to replenish the moisture and plump up the skin. I could also apply another layer if my skin needs more moisture. I love the texture of the cream that it absorbed into the skin right away.

As I continue to finish the container, I starte to love this product. This is one of the skincare products that I use everyday (day and night). There is only 25% left in the container...
This product does help my skin but I would like to try something else that might have better results. Any suggestions?

Pore Cleansing Products from Japan

Naris Up nose cleansing pack

Usage:
step 1: apply step 1(essence) evenly to the clean area (nose, T-zone). The texture of the essence is very runny like water.
step 2: apply step 2(black mask) to T-zone. Wait for 10 mins and peel off the mask. The texture of the black mask is kinda sticky and thick, but easy enough to blend.
step 3: wash face again and apply toner, moisturizer etc. Use once/two times a week depending on your skin type.

Evaluation:

Scent: no scent

Texture: I found that this mask is too dry and might be too harsh for me.

Results: When I peel the mask off, it's quite painful. I noticed some whiteheads be removed from the pores and seen on the mask. However, the dirt (yellow grain/oil) inside the pores is not cleaned completely. I still have to use tool to clean up the pores completely. (I really don't want to squeeze the pores because I found that the pores could get bigger if not treating properly).

Comments: I think that this product might be good for people who have oily skin with bigger pores. I had read reviews from other people mentioning that the whiteheads and blackheads could be effectively removed from pores.

Repurchase: No

Shills' Chocolate Mask

Usage: Dry the cleansed area and apply the mask on desired area. Peel it off after 20-30 minutes.

Evaluation:
Type of mask: A peel off mask which is pretty similar to the Naris Up nose cleansing mask.

Scent: Chocolate odour. However, I smell a bit alcohol. ( I am quite sensitive to chemical because I used to work in the laboratory).

Texture:
The mask is pretty thick and sticky, not as easier as the Naris up to blend the mask on skin.

Results: The direction asks for drying the mask for 20 -30 minutes. I think that 5-10 minutes is good enough. The effect is similar compared with the Naris Up. I feel more pain peeling off this mask than the one from Naris Up. Again, I think that this mask is good for people who have noticeable pores that would effectively remove the blackheads/whiteheads.

Repurchase: No. Not for my skin type.
SANA Pore Vacuumer

source: SANA
Usage: Apply the sufficient amount product on the desired area (dry and cleansed). Wet fingers and Massage the applied area for about 30 seconds. Rinse off with water thoroughly.

Evaluation:

Scent: It has no scent.

Texture: The product is black paste with very fine granules.

Results: This product is my favourite for cleansing the clogged pores. After massaging the area with wet fingers, you will feel the warm sensations. After few seconds, I saw some yellow granules (sebum) rub out. Since I don't have whiteheads/blackheads often, when I saw the sebum in the pores could be cleaned easily. This product is my HG!!
After use, the skin is smooth without drying. I strongly recommend this product for people who have small pores on face.

Repurchase: Yes!

I found that some noticeable pores are getting smaller after using the above products. Since I have been using all of them recently, so I would give credits for the above products that having the pore minimizing effects.

Laniege Strawberry Yogurt Peeling Gel

I haven't blogged for quite a while.  Today, I am going to publish few reviews on the products that I have been trying recently.  Laneige Strawberry Yogurt Peeling Gel is an exfoliator to remove dead skin cell. It's very gentle for all skin types.  I like this product in the tube packaging, which is much more hygienic compared with the product used to be in a container few years ago.Exfoliating skin is a very important step of skincare regime.  I am always looking for an exfoliator which can provide a smooth, radiant skin after use without drying skin.  Most of the exfoliating I tried are too harsh, which turned my skin very dry.  I used to exfoliating once a week, and followed by a moisturizing mask or collagen mask.

Cost: $29 CAN (including tax).  I bought it from Amore store.

 Ingredients:

Directions:

Evaluation:

Texture:  Creamy
Scent: Strawberry Yougurt.  Very pleasant smell. I love it.

Results: The skin is softer, smoother, cleaner and radiant.  But I don't see the effect last longer than one day.  I found most exfoliator dries my skin and my skin would started to peel.  However, I have been using Laniege strawberry yogurt peeling gel few times, and so far the product hasn't dry my skin yet. hygienic.  I do reconsider purchasing this product again.  Remember this product is very gentle, don't expect this product would clean up the whiteheads or blackheads from pores if you have oily or problem skin.

Ultraskin Make Up Base SPF24 PA++

The product label claims that all the pores especially on the nose area will be disappeard after applying this product. I will post up the before/after pictures on my nose soon. (where I need to find a better lighting)

I got this product not for the minimizing effect of pores; however, I was looking for a makeup base to brighten up the skin for some days that I look very tired/dull. This is a great product with both brightening the skin tone and pore minimizing effects. Also, the products come with SPF 24 which is sufficient for sun protection.

The product comes with a plastic scoop which you can dap the liquid on the skin.

The texture is very lightweight and runny. (much lighter weight than the liquid foundation, and never give any cease on laughing line/under the eye) Great for summer and for people who are looking for a very natural sheer look.

How to use: Use the scoop the get the liquid out and dap on your skin. I use very little (2 drops) which can cover my whole face. I usually dap one drop on my forehead and face

Most of the time, I use foundation brush to blend the make up base evenly on my face. But I don't think that it's necessary to use foundation brush, it's just my preference, using fingers to blend the make up base is fine as well.

The make up base quickly blends in and I feel like I just put on a very water-based moisturizer.

I strongly recommended this product if you are looking for a radiant sheer look. The coverage is very light. It doesn't make any cakey look because of the moisturized formula. It gives a brightening effect instantly and even the tone of my face and last quite for a day. The base controls oil pretty good. Usually my nose will appear to be oily by noon, but after applying this make up base before my Laura Mercier mineral foundation, my make up last during the day. I don't have big pores problem, usually any other makeup base would help. So, I can't really make a comment.

The original price is 1050 Yen (~$12.2 CAN/11.2 U.S.). I got this product from Pacific Mall for $19.99 CAN. Later on, I just knew that I could actually buy it from Sasa for $10.2 U.S. which is cheaper than the price shown on the bottle. oh well...I paid for the consultation service since I was talking to the sales rep. in the store and asking for a brightening make up base and she recommended this product to me.

Origins Youthtopia Age-Correcting Serum with Rhodiola - 30 mL $50 U.S.

Source: Origins website

I picked up a few products from Origins store during San Francisco trip: Origins Modern Friction, Origins Youthtopia Age-Correcting Serum with Rhodiola, Firming eye cream with Rhodiola &Skin firming cream with Rhodiola. I was also given some free samples: Frothy face wash 150 mL, some pouches of Skin firming cream and body cream.

At first, I was just picking up this brand due to curiosity. So far, I only opened Modern Friction and Age-Correcting Serum. However, the outcomes of using these product are outstanding. I can't wait to try the eye cream and the firming face cream.

I am going to focus on Origins Youthtopia Age-Correcting Serum with Rhodiola today. Modern Friction's review was posted earlier.

This product comes in a glass container with a glass dropperinside. One drop of the serum is enough for covering under eye and laugh lines. (these are the two areas I have fine lines).

I really liked how firm and tight my skin felt after using the serum. My under eye finally looks smooth after the serum is completely absorbed into face. This serum makes me feel like I'm really doing something to maintain my skin from the pollution.

After using this serum for three days, one of laughing lines has almost disappeared. The other one which was more noticable looked fading as well. The under eye area looks smooth now. The fine lines around my lower lashes are still there. Hopefully, the results would be more noticeable after a longer period of time. However, I am really happy about the results after only 3 days. I really hope that the results would last and my skin condition is getting better.

How to use: After toner, only 1 drop is enough to cover the under eye and the laughing line area. I distribute the drop to under eye and laughing line area, and massag my skin until the serum is totally absorbed. Then, apply your favourite moisturizer and eye cream. Since I am not sure how potent this serum, I use very little amount of eye cream.

For your reference, other products that I had tried but have no effect on fine lines/dark circle: Vermont eye cream, La Prairie eye cream circle, Sisley Eye Balm.

Benefits: patent pending Rhodiola promotes skin's natural repair to help reenergize, visible correct lines, and renew skin's vibrant and youthful function.

Ingredients:
Water, Leaf water, citrus aurantium amara flower water, anthemis nobilis flower water, butylene glycol, glycerin, silica, hydroxyethyl acrylate/sodium acryloyldimethyl taurate copolymer, rhodiola rosea root extract, hydrolyzed rice extract, pelargonium graveolens flower oil, sweet orange oil, patchouli oil, nutmeg kernel oil, citracal, geraniol, linalool, citronellol, eugenol, limonene, cinnamyl alcohol, soybean polypeptide, argania spinosa leaf extract, sweet almond seed extract, St. Paul's wort extract, polygonum cuspidatum root extract, phyllanthus emblica fruit extract, arabidopsis thaliana extract, algae extract, wheat protein, hydrolyzed wheat protein, sucrose, caffeine, sage leaf, sodium hyaluronate.

They claimed that they used essential oil in the formula.

Oxy Daily Facial Cleanser- Great product for pimples

I don't have pimples that often..maybe less than 5 pimples per year. I used to use oxy anti-acne ointment and biotherm anti-acne ointment for the acne. However, recently my sister recommended Oxy Daily Facial Cleanser to me. This product is amazing for acne. Thank you Sis!

There was an infection underneath my nose area few days ago. I could feel the bump when I touched it but the bump wasn't noticeable. It could have turned out to be a big pimples right at the center of my nose if I didn't use this product-Oxy Daily Facial Cleanser.

I faithfully used the amount that was enough to wash the area of the pimple every morning and night. Not the entire face, because I have dry cheek. Most of the acne products have drying effects because of the salicylic acid. After a day to few days, the bump was totally gone!!! The red nose is never going to happen!  I found that the bump could develop to be a pimple much faster using the acne ointment, just from my personal experience.

I have tested this products so many times and it works wonder for me.  Acne ointment somehow did not provide the result i wanted.

Ingredients: 2% salicylic acid -the chemical that clear up the pores.
Non medicinal products: water, glycerin, polyethylene glycol-120 methyl glucose dioleate, cocamidopropyl betaine, decyl glucoside, lauryl glucoside, hydroxycetyl hydroxyethyl dimonium chloride, sodium hydroxide, disodium EDTA, PEG-40 hydrogenated castor oil, phenoxyethanol, fragance.

Lunasol water cream foundation

Source: Lunasol website

My package from Adambeauty finally arrived. It's the Lunasol water cream foundation OC02. I heard the raves from Fuz and Jess and thank you for recommending this product on your blogs and also thank you for helping me to find the right shade.

The texture of the foundation is like gel-cream, like the Clarins gel-cream that I use. Since the product claims for containing 60% water, the foundation is easily blended to the skin without using any brush. Just like applying moisturizer with fingers, and the foundation is blended with the skin with good sheer coverage. The foundation also has brightening effect without cakey look. If you are looking for a very natural look with coverage, I strongly recommend you to try Lunasol water cream foundation. I got mine at Adambeauty for $48 U.S. The foundation comes in a container and a scoop. Upon opening the container, you will see a plastic lid over the foundation to protect the moisture within the foundation. Use the scoop to take some foundation out and dot it on forehead, nose, cheek, and chin. Afterward, I usually get rid of all the foundation from the scoop and wash the scoop with makeup remover. I haven't tested the lasting power of the foundation yet....will continue.

Finally, I found my favourite foundation!!! I am so happy! The shade of the foundation matches my skintone very well. Perfect! Now, my eyes are on the Lunasol eyeshadow palette. Maybe I will get them when I travel to HongKong in November.

Origins Modern Friction, 4oz/125mL

Source: Origins

Recently, I started to pay more attention to the organic skincare because of the formulation without parabens. After doing some research, I have my eyes on Origins skincare.

Here is the first product review from Origins skincare line.

How to use: Two to three times a week, scoop onto fingertips and massage over dry, clean skin in circular motions. For sensitive skin, massage over damp skin. Add a splash of water and work into a gentle lather. Rinse well. Follow with appropriate tonic.

I found that it's a very good exfoliator. After use, my skin becomes so smooth, radiant and soft!! The sales representative showed me a tip: Leave the scrub over the skin for few minutes before massaging over the skin would provide better results. PLEASE remember that DO NOT LET THE SCRUB LEAVE ON THE SKIN FOR TOO LONG. I found that this formulation is quite concentrated. I can feel the burning sensation after leaving the scrub on skin for few minutes. For sensitive skin, I recommend that you massage over damp skin without leaving on the skin. The results are outstanding.

Modern Friction™ claims to deliver all the amazing age-erasing benefits of dermabrasion such as:

* Improving texture and reducing fine lines
Comment: I don't have fine lines on my face, so I can't comment on the impact on the fine line. The texture of the skin is definitely improved in terms of radiant, smoothness

* Minimizing signs of photo-damage
(seems to brighten up my skin and fades the freckles)

* Evening out skin tone
(yes, even the skin tone)

* Restoring your skin with a youthful glow

(yes, brightens up the skin) I found that the first use of Modern Friction already provides better results than the Shiseido brightening cleanser, toner and emulsion that I used previously.)

Moisturizing mask (or very moisturizing cream)to be used afterward is highly recommended because this scrub tends to dry out the skin a bit.

Formulation without:
-Parabens, pthalates, propylene glycol
-mineral oil, PABA, petrolatum, paraffin
-DEA, synthetic fragrance, animal ingredients

Ingredients:
Water, rosa damascena (rose) flower water, oryza sativa (rice) starch, sodium laureth sulfate, glycerin, cocamide mea, glycol disterate, acrylates copolymer, pentylene glycol, polysorbate 20, citrus aurantium bergamia (bergamot) fruit essential oil, citrus medica limonum (lemon) peel essential oil, cucumis sativus (cucumber) oil, cinnamonmum camphora (shiu/camphor) oil, litsea cubeba oil, cirus aurantium amara (bitter orange) peel oil, ociumum basilicum (basil) oil, mentha piperita (peppermint) oil, linalool, benzyl salicylate, limonene, aloe leaf juice, scutellaria baicalensis root extract, pyrus malus (apple) fruit extract, cucumis sativus (cucumber) fruit extract, tetrahexyldecyl ascorbate, butylene glycol, hexylene glycol, sodium cocoate, caprylyl glycol, sodium sulfate, hydroxypropyl methylcellulose, sodium chloride, laureth-w-tetradibutyl pentaerithrityl hydroxyhydrocinnamate, disodium EDTA, tri-sodium hedta, methylchloroisothiazolinone sodium benzoate, titanium dioxide, penoxyethanol.

Smashbox Anti-shine

I was recommended Smashbox Anti-shine by a sales representative at Shoppers when I was looking for something that could control the oil on my nose area. My skin is combination, I should say pretty dry all over my face except my nose. Therefore, it was quite hard for me to find a foundation that would not create patches due to dryness in a few hours, and not too oily for my nose area.

Smashbox anti-shine is my current FAVOURITE for oil-control.
It comes in a 1 Fl. oz@30 mL. $31 CAN dollars + tax

Ingredients:
Water, Magnesium Aluminum Silicate, Propylene Glycol, Phenoxyethanol, Methylparaben, Propylparaben, Ethylparaben, isobutylparaben, Fragrance. May contain Titanium dioxide, iron oxide.
So many parabens, not recommended for people who are sensitive to parabens.

Only little amount would cover my nose area. The texture of this gel is quite thick, but the gel is totally absorbed to the skin after dabbing evening on the specific area without leaving any residue.
How to use: I use it after the makeup base, and before the mineral powder. Then, my whole face is ok for the whole day. If you have very oily skin, then, you might want to touch up with anti-shine after blotting your face, and then powder.

The pictures were not that good, because the lighting is too dark.

San Francisco Trip

Just came back from San Francisco 9-day trip yesterday.

This is the third time I visited San Francisco but seems to me the first time I get to know about the city. I love the weather in San Francisco, the temperature is around 20 Celsius degree and always with the breeze. The evening could get bit chilly down to 12 Celsius degree. The resident for our stay is pretty neat, with two bedrooms, one futon bed and one sofa bed, fireplace, opened concept kitchen, one bathroom and large living room. Utensils, cooking pots and pans, plates and bowls are in place in kitchen. We mostly stay in for breakfast to save some money from spending eating out. The bathroom comes with face towels, big towels, soaps,a pile of toilet paper. I love the concept of staying in a private house rather than in a hotel. We got a place to gather around to watch movies, chat and cook. Our place for six people is $1400 U.S. for 9-day stay.

We went to a lot of places. We visited de young Museum, Golden Gate bridge, Fishermen's Wharf, downtown, Wax Museum, China town, Napa Valley Wineries, two outlet malls around Napa Valley, Sausalito, Alcatraz Island, Jazz festival and Fire works on President's day. Unfortunately, Muir Woods and Yosemite Park are dropped out from our itenary.

When I just came back from the trip, I saw a package from imomoko.com I ordered just a week before my trip. The package includes Naris Up Eggshell & Charcoal Mask, Kanebo COFRET Shine Accent eyeshadow 01 SP09, L'EGERE white Multi Blemish Balm BB cream and Kelvin Beautymaker Aqua Eye Concealer (#3 Medium) and two of each DHC deep Cleansing oil and DHC Salicylic Acne Toner samples. I am so excited to try them soon.

Medieval times

I got some Corporate discount for Medieval times from work.  The past sunday I went to Medieval times with my hubby and friends. We went there around 2:10 p.m. and waited the door opened at 2:30 p.m. To my surprise, I wasn't checked for my name. The only questions being asked, "Are you coming in group?" and "How many people?" Then, we would be let go into the main building. It's a totally honest system. I am sure that a lot of people would think of getting more friends/family members to get in without paid.

Once we got in, there was a big bar right at the center of the building. Stables on the right. Gift stores are on the way to the dining place where the stores are selling the swords, shield, cups, etc.

The audience seats/tables might be about 8 feets higher than the performance ground. Even though we were sitting very close (the 2nd rows) to the performance stage, I don't smell any stinky horse smell. It was a eye-widening experiences. The show was great and it was happening the whole time during the meal. The food menu has garlic bread, tomato bisque, half chicken, ribs, potato, apple pie and 2 non-alcoholic beverages. It was quite hard to eat with the steaming hot half chicken with bare hands. As the theme is medieval times, no utensils are provided. The regular ticket is $69.99 CAN+ tax+tip. I got the discounted ticket through my company. $30 CAN including tax & tips is totally a steal.

I can't take any more pictures after that because my hands are so dirty and greasy.

First time skincare purchase from eSkinCareStore

This is the first skincare purchase I made on eSkinCareStore website. Here are the items that I bought:

-DDF Erase eye gel $39 CAN (reg:$60)
-FFD protective eye cream SPF 15 $40.30 CAN (reg: $62), exp:03/2010
With $10 special discount, $6.99 for shipping and total comes to $70.76 CAN.

This is totally a steal with 15% off for the products and another $10 special discount. Free shipping is free for order over $200.

I also got 2 free samples to try:
-Freeze 24-7 Instant smoother & brightener (0.5ml)
-Jurlique Soothing Herbal Recovery Gel (3ml)

The website also has a forum that beauty addicts can share their opinions about skincare/cosmetics tips. You would get another 5% discount if you have more than 50 posts on the forum.

The package was shipped on June 8, 2009 and I received on June 15, 2009. It took 5 business days for delivery which is not bad. Since the location of the company is in Vancouver, I don't have to worry about the unexpected custom fee. The company also has a U.S. location as well.

Overall, the purchase transaction on eSkinCareStore is very smooth. The price is a good steal. I would definitely come back.

Sewame Pore-refining extract vs. Loreal Skin Genesis Pore minimizing serum

Recently, I realized that my nose pores are getting more noticeable. I don't have pores any other areas except my nose. I guess that the pores are the results of squeezing the whiteheads/dirt continuously. So, I bought two pore -refining serums to give them a try and also I will try to just use the mud mask to clean the nose area.

Sewame Pore-refining Extract, 75 mL, $17.99 CAN ($0.24/ml)
Distributor: Hong Kong

Product Description
The advanced Sewame Pore-refining Extract combine the most updated technology from Paris Sewame Perfect Skin Care Research Center, contain Biowhite and unique pore refine compound, noticeably refine skin pore, smoothen skin and whiten complexion.

Purpose: Whiten complexion and refine skin pore, promote oil excretion adjustmen, prevent pore becoming larger.

To use: Apply evenly on face and neck on cleansed skin, massage the fluid for skin absorption.

Comments:
This brand sponsored their products to Miss Hong Kong in 2007. I have heard about this brand but I haven't never tried any of product from this brand until now. Paris Sewame is originated from Paris, France.

I got this product from Chinese skincare/cosmetics store.

Pros: The texture looks pretty viscous when applying. After massaging it to the skin, the product is totally absorbed into the skin. I feel that my skin is much hydrated and smoother the next morning even after cleansing my face. The effects make the pores look smoother/smaller.

Cons:
-The package doesn't state out the ingredients in formulation. The description of ingredients is too vague.
-The material of the plastic container looks quite cheap. The plastic cap couldn't fit very well back to the container once I removed it for the first use. I need to give quite a bit force to put the plastic cap to the container, and the when I tried to pull the cap out the next time, it's very difficult to remove the cap and at the end, I pulled the whole cap and pump out, that let the fluid leaking out. The packaging is definitely disappointing.

The other product that I tried is L’Oréal Paris Skin Genesis Pore Minimizing Skin Re-Smoother 30ml, $17.49 CAN +tax. ($0.67/ml) I got this product at superstore.

This product claims for pore-minimizing, skin re-smoother.

Ingredients: Aqua, Alcohol Denat., Cyclohexasilocane, Glycerin, Dipropylene Glycol, Silica Methyl Methacrylate Crosspolymer, Methylsilanol, Allyl Methacrylates Crosspolyer, Ammonium Polyacryladimethyltauramide, Carpyloylsalicylicacid, Carbomer, Hydroxypropyl tetrahydropyrantriol, Disodium EDTA, Zinc PCA, Sodium Hydroxide, Silica Dimethylsilylate, Algae, Sodium Hyaluronate, Parfum
Made in U.S.A.

The texture of this product is very light weight. It is easily to be absorbed and gives a smooth look on my face.

I love the design of the container. It is very hygiene. Simply turn the cap anticlockwise 30 degree, and then press on the pump, the fluid would be let out. Close the cap by turning the cap clockwise. This is definitely a good product to travel.

If you have sensitive skin, I don't recommend Loreal for you because it has alcohol.

Overall, both products give similar results for minimizing the pores and smoothing the skin. Personally, I would prefer the texture of Sewame pore-refining serum because this serum can also acts as a hydrating serum. Sewame is much cheaper compared to Loreal. I would suggest Loreal for people who have oily skin, you would love this product because it is very light weight and you don't feel anything. As for those of you that have combination to dry skin, you might want to try Sewame. Sewame doesn't list out the ingredients. So, if your skin is sensitive, try the product on your lower jaw/neck first.

Cosline Pomegrante Whitening Mask

I bought a small pouch for $1 from Sasa. This product claims for whitened and brighten the skin after use. Efficient for getting rid of the "yellowish" tone of Asian skin. The ingredients are not listed on the packaging. Even though the ingredients are listed, I won't understand Korean Language.

Evaluation:

Type of mask: Wash-off

Scent: Very good. The scent is like as much as the real Pomegranate fruit scent.

Texutre:  Gel-like texture that easily blend on skin.  I think that I use half of the pouch to cover my face and neck.

Results:
1st time use:
The skin looks smoother. But that's about it. No whitening effect at all. Will I repurchase? Definitely not even though it's for a dollar.
A buyer from Sasa mentioned that the white heads would be easily squeezed out after using this mask. I will try it next time since I already put moisturizer on my face. Actually, I tried not to squeeze any dirt from my face. I didn't have any pores before; however, I noticed that my nose pores become noticible as I started to squeeze the white heads out of my nose.

Catena anti-oxidation red wine mask

I bought this mask with over 10 different paper/tube masks from Sasa at the same time.
This mask (come with 5 pieces) was $10.40 U.S. on sale. The mask is pretty soaky wet when I got the mask from the pouch. The scent is like yogurt. I applied this on my face (unfortunately, this is a face mask without the neck potion) and massage the remaining fluid from the pouch to my neck/hands.
Forgot to mention, I usually cleanse the face, and then apply whitening or hydrating toner and put some eye mask from the tube before I place the mask on my face.

Evaluation:
It's about $2.08 per mask, quite cheap. It's quite hydrating. I left the mask on my skin at least 20 minutes. The 1st time after use, the skin looks clear and refreshed. I can't tell too much about the lightening effect.

Hydration the skin is very important after using whitening mask. I found that most of the whitening mask dries out the skin. My moisture masks include Clarins Moisture Quenching Hydra-Care Cream (for combination skin)
Eye treatment: Lancome
Primordiale eye cream and Sisley Eye and Lip Balm

I have sensitive skin and this mask doesn't break me out. Usually, I use whitening mask only when my skin condition is pretty good. Most of the whitening masks are more irritating than the hydrating masks.

Based on the first-time use, I don't think that I would repurchase again. Maybe if I use more often, the mask will have more effect on my skin. I will update this post later on.

Update after two day using the mask: My face seems to be brighter and lighten using the same skincare routine that I have been using. It seems that this mask takes the skincare product more absorbing. The whitening/brightening effect lasts for two days.

My Favourites

My Favourite as of May 29/09:

Scar product-Jamieson ProVitamins e

Lip treatment: Aveeno Intense Relief Therapy

Serums: all kinds of Skin potion serums, Helene whitening serum, Clarins hydrating serum

Face Moisturizer: Clarins, Vichy, Biotherm

Eye Treatment: Sisley Eye and Lip Balm, Lancome

Sunscreen:

Kiehl's
Ultra Protection Water-Based Sunscreen SPF 25

Burt's Bees Weatherproofing Lip Balm

Burt's Bees Weatherproofing Lip Balm 4.5 g

Ingredients:

Cera alba, helianthus annuus, cocos nucifera (coconut) oil, lanolin, symphytum officinale root, parfum, tocopheryl acetate and tocopherol, honey, rosmarinus officinalis (rosemary) leaf extract.

98% natural

The scent is light honey smell. After applying on my lip, it forms a film of layer covering on my lips. I don't feel that the lip balm is absorbing. As the product name is "Weatherproofing", I guess that it would be perfect for applying this balm after another more moisturized lip balm for protection if you are walking on the street in winter. Since I am trying this product in summer, I don't like the greasy feel on my lip. I prefer the Aveeno lip balm that gives my lip moisturized right away and the effect is more long lasting.

Regene Silk White Smooth Spongy Facial Mask

This mask is claimed to releasing white smooth essence for providing long lasting whitening effect.

When I opened the pouch, the mask is soaky with white fluid. After applying the mask on face, there is still so much fluid in the pouch, I applied it to my neck and hands.

After use, my skin looks brightened and refreshed. Whitening effect-Yes! but the next day, the whitening effect doesn't seem to last. I guess that I have to use mask every other day to keep the whitening effect on my face.

My skincare route is 1 cleaning mask and 1 moisturizing mask per week. Sometimes, when my skin becomes too sensitive during the weather, I would use Aveeno hydrating mask every day after washing the face, using it as a mask/moisturizer until my skin calm down without any irritation.

Borghese Fango Brilliante

I got this Borghese Fango Brilliante at The shopping channel for $42 (on sale price). It's expensive. I need a mud mask for even my skin tone and and deep cleansing. After reading the description of the mask and few reviews, this seems to be a perfect product for what I need. When I received this shipment, I was amazed that this product is hugh in size. I only needed very little amount to spread over my face. I had a stinging feeling on my face when I applied it. oh no..I thought that I would have allergic reaction to this mask. Actually, the stinging feeling disappeared after a minute. Upon 5 minutes, I feel the skin being so refreshed and cleaned after washing. I haven't seen the skin tone improved, but it seems to be a good mud mask for routine cleaning once a week. I only applied this mask to my T-zone area and chin. I don't use it for my cheek because this mask could dry out the skin.

Aveeno Intense Relief Therapy

I am insane with skin care/cosmetic products. I always want to try new things to enhance my skin conditions. Especially in Canada like -25C, heater in the house is mandatory. At the same time, my skin became very dry. My lips are chapped badly. I bought this product from shoppers. This product is not cheap, it's about $7 for a container of 5.7g lip balm inside. Compared with Petroleum Jelly, Aveeno lip balm is expensive. Due to the convenient size of Avenno, I gave a try to this product. I do recommend Petroleum jelly to mske a smaller size for portal use.

For the first use, this product is amazing. It quickly relieves the pain of my chapped lips where the lips are kinda torn with blood. Among other brands/products, the advantages of this balm are 1) it doesn't give greasy feel, 2) the balm stay on the lips to provide moisture longer. For example: I would still feel the blam on my lips after drinking without applying the balm again.3) it gives a mint on the lips.

The product in the container is the only thing that I concerned. I used my little finger to apply on my lips, and most of the time, I don't get a chance to wash my hands before use. It would be great if the product came in the lipstick container style.

Anyways, it is still the best lip balm I ever used!

aveene soothing mask

The product label claims to contain rich in nutritive elements. As soon as I apply Avene's Instant Soothing Mask I can feel it hydrate and nourish your face. Luscious and unctuous, it is quickly absorbed by the skin to quench its thirst for moisture and softness. Velvety and creamy to the touch, it leaves the skin feeling soft, soothed, fresh and revitalized. When my skin was very drenching for moisture, I left the mask on before going to bed. My skin became supple the next morning. I don't see much about my skin glowing. Maybe my skin condition is not bad, so that I don't see much difference in terms of glowing. In conclusion, I strongly recommended this product for anyone whose skin is drenching for moisture. I got this product at Shoppers for $30 sth.

This might not be the best mask for hydration but definitely it's a keeper for me, personally, my skin gets irritated during the season change. My skin would started to have bumps, flaky cheek/nose. I would use this product every night as a mask after hydrating toner and leave it on as a moisture to sleep until my skin gets back to its normal condition.

SILK WHITIA Aromatherapy facial mask -ROSE

I got this mask from SaSa. When opening the package, you can feel that package is quite heavy. The mask is totally immersed with the mask liquid. Once taking the mask out and apply it on my face, the mask is quite sticky. I can still see alot of liquid inside the package. I rub the liquid to my neck, my legs and arms to get the maximum benefit from this package. The instruction on the package said that the mask should apply for 20 minutes and then rinse. After 20 minutes, I still felt that the mask is quite wet on my face. I took my mask off after 30 minutes, I thought that I would feel a film of mask residue on my face because the mask was quite sticky when I first applied. Amazing, the liquid is totally absorbed by the skin. It gave a radiant and smooth look. Then, I applied the serum and moisturizer without rinsing the skin, and went to sleep. This morning after cleaning my face, I can still feel that my skin is soft and smooth. It's very hydrating and also I can see quite a difference on my skin tone on my face and neck. My face is much more paler and brighter. I wish that this mask comes with the neck portion. My legs and arms are quite soft and smooth too.

This package is definitely worthy to repurchase again.

Products for removing scars

I developed a lot of scars from scratching, minor injury from cycling. Now, I feel troubled everytime when I need to wear dress/short in summer because my scars are very visible.

I had tried a few products and found that very useful. The scars do indeed fade. I have been using for a month, so hopefully those scars will be fade to be not noticeable if I keep on using the products.

1. Neostrata Smoothing Lotion - This product contains 10% glycolic acid. I was recommended by the sales representative in Shoppers drug mart.

2. Bio oil - It has a very positive reviews on the website.

Fully exfoliating the area you want to apply prior application would be very effective when using these products. First, I would apply the Neostrata lotion by rubbing in circular motion. This lotion is very absorbing. Then, apply Bio oil and keep rubbing in circular motion.

Added May 29.09:

I recently found a very good scar product. The best scar product that I have used so far. Jamieson Provitamina e, 28 mL, 100% pure oil. My scar can be seen to be one shade lighter after applying. Also, this product is good for any dry, rough spots. I used it for my thumbs' cuticle which is so dry that skin would peel off.

Excellent Collagen Mask

Excellent Collagen Mask -Product of Japan
Formulated with active ingredient from Natural Extract

I got this mask free when I placed an order at Sasa. This mask claims to make the skin to be firm, healthy and radiant.

Action: Rich in bio-marine elastane, the mask improves muscle tissue elasticity restoring its smoothness and firmness o the skin. Toning, restructuring, this mask also cleanses the skin, helps it to eliminate impurities and restores the hydro content of the upper layers of the skin.

To use: Apply mask onto cleansed face. Fit cut-off portions over eyes and mouth. Tap lightly with a finger until mask completely adheres to skin. Leave for 20-25 minutes and rinse with water. Use twice a week.

Evaluation:
The skin seems to be whitened after the application. The skin tends to be dry. Water-based moisturizer would be beneficial after use. I feel the skin a bit tightened, but the pores on the skin seem to be the same, not minimized. (although I don't have large pores, but the some pores on my nose are visible) I wouldn't recommend to purchase it. Not much effect.

Sweet Honey Pack

Sweet Honey Pack- Supplement honey extract to make your skin moisturize and softly.
(Wash off type)

I got this Sweet Honey pack, product of Korea, for $4.5 U.S. from Sasa. The product label states that the product will allow the dry skin becomes more radiant smooth and also has whitening effect. It claims that the honey extract has multiple natural ingredients that exfoliate the dead skin and promotes metabolism; strengthen the elasticity of the skin.

Ingredient: COSLINE Sweet Honey Pack contains extract of honey (1700mg), which can smoothen rough and dry skin. Increasing skin brightness, whiteness and softness. Rich nutrient from honey can maintain skin in health condition as well as cleansing dead cell. Encouraging metabolism, and increase skin energetic and elasticity. Balancing skin moisturizing level, and controlling melanin synthesis. This product is not as sticky as real general honey. Wash off type for easy usage. (from the product description of Sasa.)

How to use: After cleaning the face, use sufficient amount to even spread on the face, avoiding the mouth and eye areas. Massage gently and leave the product on the face for 15-20 minutes. Rinse with warm water.

Evaluation:
The smell of the product is like Ginseng rather than Honey. The texture is a bit sticky , but not as sticky as the real honey. I am not sure if it's from the chemical used , or Ginseng is one of the ingredients. The product doesn't have any ingredients stated on the bottle. After the first use in December (winter), the face becomes smooth and softly and a bit radiant.
